I know it is still labelled BETA until you can clear private discussions upon plugin deactivation (a feature I would like). I presume it is save to install now regardless as that feature will definitely be coming? ?

Installed and currently testing with a few users...

One thing I have noticed is the count doesn't seem to increase when posts have been made? So people aren't looking in the private discussions as assume they are empty? Is this by design or a bug? ?

yekenuk not sure, it doesn't update a field related to the amount of publicly visible posts.

Thanks for your efforts @luceos .. something I noticed..I find it hard to keep track of the private chats. It would be cool if there was a dedicated area, like a button with a drop down that shows all private messages (as it is known from Facebook for example) .. or in the meantime a tag that only applies to private discussions where I can see all the private discussions. Or am I missing something?

chaosbunker a dedicated page (with custom markup) and custom button have been in the first proof of concept and will be re-introduced.

blackjelly You can choose whether a recipient is zero or more groups and/or zero or more users. Byobu allows setting only one user as a recipient, which results in private messaging. Does that help?

luceos Although a group can be achieved, but I personally think that the message prompt method is more simple, I just tell each other an important message, it does not need to discuss.

Mind you, that doesn't stop the recipient from starting their own private discussion with you to respond, unless they lack the permissions. So no matter what your scenario, someone is always going to be able to put in their own 2 cents.

blackjelly Ahh, that way. My response would be that luceos has chosen to make the messages appear with the rest of discussions, rather than make a new area. He actually did start the way you wanted, but changed to the current implementation after someone made a suggestion.

I think it's a pretty good suggestion now, but it takes a little getting used to. Every other forum does it the way you described, so it's something to get used to.

I will add the ability of showing only your private discussions too in an upcoming release. I was considering allowing a "bell" icon to show up in the header too and offer a separate discussion list for private discussions all together. Not sure if that would cover your needs blackjelly ?
