ScottBeeson Yes, private discussions are created from the user profile page. Click on your username (top right), select 'Private Discussions', then 'Start a Private Discussion'

SilverPoplar most likely this is due to a mis-configured email setup. Check your mail settings in /admin

IanM Just curious... Did you remove the previous feature if selecting recipients on clicking Start a Discussion? Or is this an error.

SilverPoplar I'd suggest setting the mail driver to log in that case 🙂

SilverPoplar you can set email driver to log on localhost, so that emails are written to logs and don't error.

Are there any supported method for import from another DB for the messages? Such as if I had a phpbb site ( or mybb ) and wanted to import?

therealsujitk It's been moved so that it only shows when you're in the private discussion area. I think this is a good improvement as it better mimics the existing expectations of users coming from other Forum software.

therealsujitk yes, based on feedback and research from our community members, the recipients selection is now removed from the standard ‘start discussion’ flow.

We found that many members didn’t fully understand why it was there, and a high percentage thought that they needed to add themselves only as a recipient. This resulted in many private discussions being posted with no visibility when this was not intended.

It seems like I can't create a discussion with my moderator because his username is only 2 characters long.

I couldn't find this reported on GitHub so I added it here.

Flarum in general doesn't really have support for usernames shorter than 3 characters. I'm not sure filing an issue with Byobu will do you much good, even if we add that you'll have limitations in Flarum.

I see the option to allow only specific users to see the post, but how can I allow specific groups to see the post?

Littlegolden I see. Seems like the extension doesn't support group names in Hebrew.

danielunited I think you can use Hebrew in the first line of the Name option in the user group settings , and use English in the second line.

The first line will only appear in the badge on the avatar.
The content of the second line will not be seen by the user, and the second line can be retrieved.

Littlegolden That not a good solution, because it means that if my community is in Hebrew, users need to enter an English name there. Supporting non-Latin languages would be a better solution.
