huuduy216 Not really. It's almost like fixing something that isn't really broken - just made inoperable by this particular extension.

huuduy216 you might be able to force a different height with CSS, but for dynamically adjusting based on the user device, that would require additional code. The EmojiOneArea library itself doesn't have any code to handle vertical resize (just like it doesn't have anything to prevent going off screen if the viewport width isn't wide enough)

Since this extension is under minimal maintenance that's not something I'm going to fix for free. It's maybe 30min to 1h of work that could be sponsored. The difficulty would be to test the new feature on different mobile devices. I personally don't have any iOS device so I wouldn't be able to properly test all common devices.

llaumgui yes I think you can safely remove the Flarum extension and the picker should continue to work the same way.

What happens if you do so is that emojis in posts during rendering will use the emoji from the user's system font instead of the Twemoji images, so they will be different depending on the system. The emojis inside of the picker are always EmojiOne.

You will also lose the : emoji autocomplete since it's a feature of the Flarum extension.

    Thx !

I hate this autocomplet... I'm french and in frensh we put a space before ":"... The auto-complete feature starts unintentionally 🙂.

    What about 1.0.0 compatibility ?

anyone run into an issue where the cursor automatically moves to the next line after selecting an emoji with this extension on Chrome?

      • [deleted]

clarkwinkelmann I'm not seeing any issue.

Yes I am also trying to reproduce from last 20 minutes but unable to, I don't think its a bug.

[deleted] This may be a compatibility issue of rich text extension.

Any chance we could have an option to just pick simple unicode emojis instead of loading stuff from a cloudflare CDN?

poVoq it's limited to what the EmojiOneArea library can do. It can only render EmojiOne emojis.

huuduy216 yes, I have rich text

That's definitely a rich text editor issue, not an emoji picker one, it happens when you add an emoji using the RTE without the emoji picker installed.

This extension is much more convenient than the default emoji...

Some people like me are unfamiliar with emoji names, so it's hard to pick emoji quickly with the default one.

I'm really wondering why we cannot pick emojis in this way 😅 rather than just searching

stimw do you have an issue with the extension?

If you're asking why this isn't in Flarum, that's just because Flarum is kept as a minimal framework and extensions like this one are expected to provide more features.

This particular picker wouldn't make it into the Flarum Emoji extension either because it doesn't use the same emoji set as Flarum. I made a "native" picker for Flarum but it's still not released at this time, maybe soon.

I mean that the flarum default emoji should behave like this way 😁 Users can simply pick rather than need to search with emoji name.

              @clarkwinkelmann Hi
When i disable this extension, and my users use emoji from keypads, will they still show on the posts?

              ---edit
yes the emoji still show up 👍
