AMAZINGLY AMAZING NEWS!
I'd like to welcome @Frink and @OrdinaryJellyfish to the ReFlar family! @Kyrne made a right decision to have these fine developers join us as we grow in numbers. What does this mean for the rest of the community? More extensions of course! (Or, I at least would hope to bring out some new flavors of candy this year ?). Previously, @Frink lead and still leads his PartialDev project as we begin to migrate any WIP work he has into the ReDevs/ReFlar network.
It feels great to have more to manage as well as being able to talk, mentor, and chill with new developers ?
In other news!...
I have spoken to @luceos about possibily creating a standard for Flarum extension development because let's be honest here for a second (or a few hours), everyone has their own way and style of developing Flarum extensions and as we grow closer to stable, many of the older extensions will become obsolete or even hard to read through their code with the way they are currently written and structured. It's all over the place and this initiative will create a standard in which we can all use, approve, and appreciate in the community over time. And just like with any other group who maintains standards (ISO, ANSI, PHP-fig, etc), we will designate those who will be in charge of maintaining those standards, updating them to meet other standards related to this initiative, and vote on what changes have to or can be made.
I'm a firm believer in pretty/organized/structured code and projects so I hope many of you aspiring developers follow these standards when they become established. This will help with the futher development of extensions and for those who wish to pick up abandoned ones, this is a bonus for you because it will be less work reading through bad directory names and spaghetti ?
So with that all and said, stay tuned for more news!
