jordanjay29 0E800 IMHO, it should be if the same user is the person making all those votes. You get 1 vote per post, so a downvote from an upvote first removes your upvote. Unless someone else has voted, the value should be -1 (your +1 removed makes it 0, adding the -1 makes it -1).
0E800 I see what your saying. This only happens on 0 right? 2 doesn't become 0 if they got to 2 from my plus 1, then I downvote?
Kyrne 0E800 if someone else upvotes, that makes the score 1, if you then downvote it is -1 making a score of 0.
0E800 If they already have 1 upvote, and I add my upvote and then downvote, it goes back to 1, and not 0? Alologies, I'm exlexdik with word math.
Kyrne 0E800 1 starting upvote, plus your upvote = 2. Then you effectively delete your upvote bringing the post back down to 1, then downvoting (-1) brings it to 0. This is the exact same system Reddit uses.
0E800 So if I just want to retract and maintain neutral, I'll have to downvote and then upvote again to make it as though I never voted?
Kyrne 0E800 nope, if you upvote/downvote, you can just click upvote/downvote again and the vote will be deleted.
jordanjay29 @Kyrne maybe the same problem exists for votes, they need some kind of active style so users know they can click them again to deactivate.
jordanjay29 Kyrne Got it. My forum was set to the default, which was the same color for both. You might need one more style just to account for that.
0E800 I've used reddit like one time. Not familiar with the voting. Had a herbal remedy moment and it seemed like I was unable to undo a vote. Thank you guys for clarification.
arms Can I set this just rank the discussion? Ie Original post? Perfect world would be ranking discussions whilst being able to like posts.
arms Kyrne I mean thread/discussions/topic rather than the posts within? I would want to rank them up and down but not the posts within?
Kyrne arms The OP is the only post that affects the discussion. All of the other posts are independent.
