andreherberth I tried to follow along with what you mentioned. I moved the content within the Download folder to the folder where I wanted the forum. I then moved the contents of the Flarum over to that same folder, along side the content of Download. You then stated to delete the "public" folder, but doing so did nothing. I reverted and put the public folder back, went to it in the browser and I saw the DB setup process for the forum. I completed the steps and it launched the forum and it seems to be working.
What escapes me, and I'm sorry if I am a noob when it comes to this, is what do you mean delete the public folder. Can I just move the contents of the public folder up a level? Now that I've set it up, can I delete it and the forum will work?
I'm not sure what to say about the cleanup process. I did this install on a test environment so I can nuke it and start over again. Is there a better way to help show you my process and see where the pitfall is? Honestly, this process has saved me, and I really appreciate the ability to do an install through this process as opposed to SSH. My hope is that this can help others and can enable me to use this on two other sites where they want forums, specifically Flarum.
