Are you tired of clicking more than 1 button just to log into your account? Are you sick of having less passwords to remember? Well no more, today I am going to show you how to migrate your existing O-auth account into a native Flarum account in 6 easy steps.
But CDK, what is an O-auth account?
An O-auth account is an account that was created using GitHub, Google, etc. sign in extensions.
How to migrate your account
- Log into your pre-existing O-auth based Flarum account
- Click on your name in the top right (or sidebar on mobile), and click settings
- Click "Change Password" followed by "Send Password Reset Email"
- In the email you should have just received, click the link
- Change your password
- Profit
After all of this you should have a working native Flarum account.
How does this work?
When you sign up with an O-auth account, Flarum registers you as a user, with a random password, therefore preventing you from logging in the normal way. When you change your password, you know the password and are able to log in normally.
