French language pack to localize the Flarum forum software plus its official and third-party extensions.

French Language Pack for Flarum

INSTALLATION

Flarum use Composer to manage its dependencies and extensions. The French language pack is available on Packagist and can be managed that way. Make sure that Composer is installed on your machine, then run the following command in the location where Flarum is installed:

composer require flarum-lang/french

UPDATING

Just like the installation procedure, make sure that Composer is installed on your machine, then run the following commands in the location where Flarum is installed:

composer update flarum-lang/french
php flarum cache:clear

    Fastidious I don't know the policy about that for now. I don't think third parties extensions will be pushed into the official repo. I will keep you informed about that.

        @SolidOrphan Merci de tes contributions, j'ai merge une de tes PR. Au passage, je suis preneur pour une meilleure solution concernant "Nouveauté" et "Ancienneté". Le problème étant que la traduction de "Oldest" et "Newest" sont relativement simples, mais que je souhaite que cela reste cohérent face à "Latest". En clair, "Newest" affiche en premier les nouvelles créations de discussions alors que "Latest" prend également en compte les réponses de discussions déjà crées.

        Note that we strongly discourage overwriting Flarum's core files. It makes it a huge pain in the ass to upgrade, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid with the extensions system.

        To make a language pack, you should make an extension which contains and registers your locale files. See the Packaging and Localization docs for more info.

        Also, I think it would be appropriate to have a single language pack extension which includes all of the translations for core + the bundled extensions. At least, that's the conclusion we came to all those months ago, I think!

            Toby Hey, nice to see you there! Congrats for your amazing piece of software, it rocks! Yeah, it will be more appropriate and I planned to do that later (that was our conclusion yeah), it was just the first early releases. I'm reading right now the procedure to create an extension but I'm not a developer, so for now it's a little bit hard to understand. Be sure that I'll ask you some help at first. 🙂

                            Can we base on this file to translate to own language ofc with credits to Your work? You don't have any problem with that?

                              A guide to create an extension (for a language), for all non-developers translators out there, would be nice.

                                Stew TRK88 SolidOrphan No problem with that, you have to found all Qia, French and french and replace them, and change the content of flarum.json and src/Extension.php. README.md and .gitignore can be removed, they are relative to GitHub. Please make sure to keep all spaces as they are, or you will break things!

                                For information, @Toby will simplify in the future the way to create an extension when it's a localization, because for now, if you're following the documentation, some unnecessary files and folders will be present.

                                        For information, times localization have been implemented in the latest extension version. I tested it and it works. It's based on French moment.js locale. This localization is not included by default, but it seems intended like that. At least at this very moment. So, like everything, this can be changed.

                                        Be sure to update frequently the extension in the Flarum beta stage. It's super simple to update, and it's even explained in the How to update? section of the documentation. 🙂

                                        Is it possible to use this extension for other languages?
