Ghost has proven to be quite fast for me. I have always thought that there are only major differences in speeds once you have a lot of content on your site. If you don't have a lot of content and/or if your site isn't image heavy, then anything will be as quick as the next.
You may not find it too flexible at the moment as it is technically still in beta (with a stable release due any time now just like Flarum). It is amazing software and will definitely impact the CMS market, especially to the likes of WordPress. What are you trying to achieve that Ghost cannot provide at the moment?
