  • The New & Improved Flarum Roadmap

I asked Franz directly to not bother Toby directly. I've just thinking. Maybe he can spend 10 seconds and put one liner as answer and that would be enough. I didn't ask whole community about talking to me everything I already know. As I was new one here. Because I doesn't had any question to community or doesn't need any review of project. I ❤ Flarum devs enough no matter what future brings. I follow every update as you guys, but it's a while from 2 September 2017 to this day. So I thought, maybe is enough time for tiny question "How things are going behind the scenes?"

Prosperous You didn't have to as now everything we have posted has no relevance.

Because this discussion have no relevance at all for me. I didn't wanted it. I would prefer to left question without answer than talking that only cause distraction. My intention was not to make any mess in community around the topic of expectations because it can be seem as being pushy to core team. So it's better to remove discussion than spamming the forum without getting to any expected conclusion.

I rather stay silent and remove my replies than causing any distraction to anyone here. In other words, @me have no relevance.

A quick reply while cleaning the breakfast table.

As third (active) core developer, sorry @Prosperous Jordan is community manager not a developer, I can all tell you that we've been pushing hard these last couple of months to move forward. Toby has invested a lot of time to get webpack support in while continuing his education and Franz has been pushing hard to get a foundational refactor out even until the last moment his life changed for good (its not up to me to share the news). I myself have completely refactored the database layout, which is closing in on completion. This in addition to a wide variety of other changes including adding tests. We all have other responsibilities and still do our best to move forward.

And github might not give an honest view of activity, as most commits go into branches instead of master. Committing to master is not done as it creates an unstable environment for extension developers.

Thank you for your patience and your devotion, we hear you!

Woops not a quick reply after all ?

amdad I know my management of PRs has been sub-optimal, to use an euphemism. Sorry about that. I am planning to improve. (I still have most of them in my inbox, and will go through them again soon.)

Right now, as @luceos hinted, certain events make real life even more pleasant and interesting, which does not necessarily mean there is a lot of time left for Flarum. (It does help me use my free time more wisely and efficiently, though.) ?

Wonderful job guys. One quick question - at what point in the roadmap can we expect a simple installation for dev noobs like myself? Would "Simple Stable" still be installable only through SSH? I ask because I see that you are so close to the release of the stable version and if that will come with an installer that people like myself can use, I would rather wait till the version gets released instead of asking someone to help me with installation (and do another round of installing a few weeks from now).

When is the stable version, and is version 0.1 the stable version

hponiang Did you read the first post of this discussion?

There is no ETA or release date yet for the next beta version let alone the stable version. All announcements do take place on this forum as a priority so check back from time to time for updates.

Having said that though you do not necessarily need to wait for the stable version to be released. You can go ahead and use Flarum right now for your own community.

Prosperous Sorry, I have read it. I am a Chinese and my English is not very good. I am making an online education product and I want to use flarum

Go ahead, you will not be the first one to use Flarum beta in production.

Because of the high cost, I was worried that the change was too big to be updated, so I decided to give up

Prosperous I assumed the cost of integrating Flarum into their software product. Work/code cost, not money.
