txtd Isn't google analytics just a little bit a javascript? You should probably be able to put i anywhere as long as it belongs to the fronted.

Kulga txtd It's kinda the point - to avoid having to modify the core files. Especially with upgrades it could get overwritten where a extension would be protected. Not to mention a effective extension would permit various other tracking programs (like piwik)

MISC A successful solution can be to have a placeholder before the </head> tag as well as the before the </body> tag that can be defined in the cp. You will then be able to add the analytics code or other things without any template changes.
