Free Flarum hosting on an expert platform by FreeFlarum.com
Up2Vex No, I have purged 700 unused forums, and MariaDB appears stable again. I suspect that it doesn't like that many small databases.
[deleted] Thanks! Would you have any suggestions on how to optimize MariaDB for many (5k) small databases? I have just increased log level from 1 to 3, which would hopefully produce relevant information, should another crash happen. For now, I am in the dark on what triggered these crashes. The server has 8G ram, of which 2GB is free during normal operation. In order to accommodate many open tables, I have - for a long time - been running MariaDB's open_files_limit
setting at 64K.
I am also available via DM at https://telegram.me/gwillem
Thanks!
Hi guys, thanks for this great service, i created a new freeflarum yesterday, but i cant config many extensions like: imgur upload i can only activate it but cant see where to config it ?! and i was surprised that there is nothing about my users on the admin panel !! i installed users directory but the same cant see anything no list no option for that extention on my admin panel; is that because of freeflarum is limited in options as its a free service ?

Potentially - are you using any form of partitioning in the MySQL sense ? Also, contact me on Discord - if you can share the my.ini or my.conf file, this would help.
Is there a specific time where bottlenecks are evident within the DB ? You've probably looked at these already, but http://linuxpitstop.com/tips-to-improve-mariadb-performance/ has some good tips.

sco85 Can you ask that elsewhere on this forum? Those questions are not unique to FreeFlarum.

No..
[deleted] if you can share the my.ini or my.conf file
Am running with standard (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) settings, except for:
[mysqld]
open_files_limit = 65536
log_warnings = 3
innodb_buffer_pool_size = 1G
[deleted] Is there a specific time where bottlenecks are evident within the DB
Starting up takes ~ 10 minutes, presumably because of the large (223K rn) number of tables that are initialized.
Otherwise, I have not observed any resource bottlenecks (CPU, I/O, mem)
Thanks for the optimization pointer!

Sanguine We really need to look at optimisation I think. There are a number of benefits to tuning the databases. Are the tables in innodb or myisam ?

FreeFlarum is not fast enough. Its good as it works but it has lot of downtimes and pings are usually 1000ms and their website says You won't find better performance. Powered by the fastest machines on the net.
which is not true unfortunately
GhostSlayer Its free what did you expect lol

GhostSlayer I don’t think FreeFlarum has lots of downtime. For the past 2 years, it had an uptime of 99.9% which is better than most commercial hosting services. This week’s unfortunate issue was, luckily, an anomaly.
Regarding ping times: FreeFlarum is hosted in Europe. Indeed, it can have higher latency for people in Asia and Australia. Where are you based?
Up2Vex I don’t think it was caused by the Money extension. However, I am not very eager to try it again right now. Should the service crash, it will cost me half a day to recover, and unfortunately I don’t have that flexibility in my schedule right now. However, I’d like to try it again when the dust has settled and we will have arrived in less hectic times.
Unable to verify that this server is www.batteries-forum.com, because its security certificate expired 33 days ago. This could be due to a misconfiguration or to the interception of your connection by a hacker. Your computer clock is currently showing Saturday April 11, 2020. Do you think this is correct? If not, you need to correct your system clock and then refresh the page.
Seems that the certificate is expired.
