I've just fixed an issue where the settings page would make Firefox browsers crash. The problem was with rendering the category dropdown and choosing which option should be selected, based on your forum category. Now, your forum category is not selected by default - instead, it is rendered in a text above the dropdown. This is purely just a visual change

There's going to be a downtime at around 6:00 - 8:00 UTC tomorrow. We will be updating MariaDB to 10.6. This shouldn't take more than 1 - 2 hours, but all forums will have to be offline at that time, so no database gets corrupted. We apologize for the downtime, but it is necessary to make FreeFlarum more stable

Hi Skevo, thanks for fixing the bug. I don't mean to bug you again, but there might be something wrong with the "Blog" plugin (I was just messing around with it, not planning on using it seriously) . It might just be an issue with compatibility or a setting I forgot to disable, but I can access the "Blog" section from the sidebar nav on the home page, but the blog section shows an error when reloading or trying to access it from the url: x.freeflarum.com/blog. Thanks again for all your work.

This is a compatibility issue with the SEO extension, disabling one of the extensions will fix the issue.

I believe that this error was already reported, but if you want, you can report this at https://github.com/v17development/flarum-blog/issues, so that the authors can look at it again

Actually it turned out to be the opposite (well I think because it works now). I think the extension needs SEO and I had it off. 👍️

The MariaDB upgrade is now almost done. All databases are now being checked in the background. Because this will take some time for all the Flarum databases, I am keeping the services alive to not cause a big downtime. I have created a new test forum and clicked around to see if the database is responding, and it does. But if things go wrong, we can always restore backups.

Please, alert us if you spot anything unusual, so that we can promptly address your concern

arran this was requested before, and honestly I am not so sure about this one. That extension can generate a lot of E-mails, which might make some providers mark our server as spam.

It wouldn't be a problem if forums that want to use that extension change the mail settings to use their/different server, but there is no way that we can limit the extension to forums with custom mail setup only.

This was especially problematic back when we were using Mailgun, but I will still need to do some research now to see how we can improve our mail server and be accepted by other mail servers even when we send more E-mails. I'd recommend opening a new issue at our GitHub (which is the proper way to request extensions) and then we'll see: https://github.com/gwillem/freeflarum.com/issues

vaultboy Brazilian Portuguese is the only Portuguese language pack available at FreeFlarum currently. Other language packs have been abandoned or are no longer compatible with the latest Flarum release, as far as I know.

If you know an extension that is compatible with the latest Flarum, please open a new issue at our GitHub and we'll include it

Anyways, I've now included a dev-master version of flarum-lang/portuguese. Sorry for the confusion, but note that Extiverse and Discuss search did not show any other extensions than flarum-lang/brazilian. I assumed that this was the only compatible extension.

Correct, but searching for "Portuguese" still yields just one result, the Brazilian Portuguese language. flarum-lang/portuguese isn't there:
