Apologies for the downtime, the forums appear to be up again. Sadly, I could not be around when the downtime occurred. As I have previously announced (also at the support forum), these downtimes are likely because some forums have grown a large userbase that FreeFlarum can't satisfy anymore, since FreeFlarum has currently no instant check for upper hard limit for forum resources and user activity.
There is a script that checks big forums every couple of months, but that's about it - there are sometimes cases that I've seen that someone with an already big community decides to use FreeFlarum and all of the users from other platform create new accounts and start posting, it becomes a problem. I will have to adjust our Fair Use Policy to explicitly state that FreeFlarum is meant to be used for new and starting communities, or simply as a way to try out Flarum/learn how to manage an online community, and not for serious projects that require 100 % uptime and have a few thousand users.
I apologize if this concerns some readers, but this is just the idea that this project was initially born with and it is its primary purpose. With that in mind, forum owners that have way too large forums will be reached out to personally by me in my spare time (as I have announced earlier) and we will discuss possible alternative solutions that offer high-performance and stable hosting, such as Blomstra. If you would like to know what classifies as large forum, please have a look at the Fair Use Policy (which will be expanded soon to counter some above-mentioned edge cases and to clarify & describe the goal of FreeFlarum as a service more closely).
FYI as luceos pointed out, please use the intended platforms to reach out to me regarding your questions or concerns. This thread is NOT actively monitored by me anymore. If the support forum is down, please e-mail me at info@freeflarum.com instead - I read all e-mails and respond as soon as possible, either publicly or individually.
I will also consider an alternative approach of hosting the support forum on my other personal server instead, so that it is online even if FreeFlarum servers are down.
There is also https://status.freeflarum.com, which is automated and is online even if FreeFlarum is down too - I will make sure to improve it and put all the links on the support forum and on other appropriate places (main site, docs) for people that are not aware that it exists
