Sanguine I myself believe tiers would be the best for these types of features, but while it's under beta it wouldn't be a good idea to just throw the feature out there without a test run or two to make sure that everything works the way it should without any errors (or errors where they're supposed to be).

Congratulations on the project and welcome to the world of Flarum! I personally won't be needing your services but I'm sure there are many members that will! ?

Prosperous it looks like a decent service for new users to try out flarum. My only concern is https://www.freeflarum.com/terms here nothing about the data sharing with 3rd parties mentioned. You know, the general rule of the internet. If something is free, you're the product.

I see there's ads but is that all? I mean, all? I'm not going to use this service too, and I think it's a great step towards gaining new people to the community, but you got my point.

duman Thanks for sharing your concerns! In Dutch there is an old saying "trust comes on foot and leaves by horse". So I hope to earn trust by my actions. My primary motivator is passion for Flarum and building useful tools. I can assure you, nobody will get rich by building a Flarum service. And that's not my goal. Instead, I would like to help communities set up an easy, independent forum and not having to rely on tech monopolists (Facebook). Ideally, the service pays for itself. Utopian stretch goal: some surplus is generated which could go to the Flarum core devs. But alas, the current revenue is $0.00 ?

duman True, but I'm sure it may be added or explained further by the owner. ?

Sanguine That may be true and by no means do I doubt your good intentions but sometimes people like seeing something set in stone for example especially when it relates to privacy and giving your word on not sharing data.

YohoYang Well spotted! I was in the process of adding Chinese (trad & simplified), Ukrainian and German. Finished now, have fun!

Sanguine I couldn't even tell you. I suppose it would depend on if ads will still be included in the domain part and if you do a tier structure. I would have to look at some other services and kind of compare and then make the options cheaper than the services that are already out there. Also, if you have a domain with another hosting company, would you be able to just punch in the dns numbers to have it forwarded to your host, or would the domains need to be hosted with you? A service like this seems like it would be very nice. Then you don't have to purchase a web hosting plan from those bigger hosting companies.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. There are so many options and a lot of things to consider when coming up with a price. Of course, once the research is done, maybe it won't be hard at all.

Cheers! I decided to not charge anything unless forums use significant server / support resources (i.e. beyond the fair use policy of 5 times the average).

So I am working on a control panel that would allow import/export and custom domains. Which feature would you like first? Re custom domains: you would just have to configure the DNS.

I usually host my domains elsewhere and wouldn't like to change that. Having the ability to just configure my DNS settings and having the flarum hosting recognising my domains and associate them with my flarum instance seems to be great. Not for me, as I don't plan to use your offer, but for other likeminded people.

            And there was much rejoicing

FreeFlarum (beta) now supports custom domains

A new SETTINGS section is live at FreeFlarum where you can hook up your own domain with your Free Flarum. A few notes:

            1. You can login with your forum name and a Flarum admin password. NB every admin can login, so be careful who you hand out admin roles to!
            2. Custom names work for domains, such as discuss.yourname.com. Setup: go to your domain provider and add a DNS CNAME record pointing to yourname.freeflarum.com. Then go to FreeFlarum settings and enter your domain name.
            3. Only 1 domain name can be active at any time. If you set up a custom name, visitors of yourname.freeforum.com will automatically be redirected.
            4. A LetsEncrypt SSL cert for your domain will automatically get registered.

            Have fun!

Sanguine I'm actually impressed with the enthusiasm you have towards this. Good luck.

Antoine Installed! Also made a PR on your money ext to add a URL so people can actually click through for more information.
