There are no DNS records on that domain, other than information about the nameserver.

_MST2_ what kind of DNS provider is that ?

It was under the impression that the DNS specification does not permit to have a CNAME record at the root if there is another record, as as there is always an NS record this not possible.

However I notice the FreeFlarum docs say otherwise https://www.freeflarum.com/docs/howto/custom-domain/#using-a-root-naked-domain According to these it could work.

As matteocontrini pointed out, you can try querying the domain yourself, it doesn't return any A or CNAME record. I have the same results.

The best would be to contact your hosting provider to see whether they really support adding a CNAME at the root, or not use the root domain and go for a subdomain instead.

clarkwinkelmann as far as I know most providers don't support that. CloudFlare does, but by requesting the A record for you and returning it when the @ domain is requested. So it's a workaround, but it works

Hi, I've just realised I cannot access my forum created at FreeFlarum, is there any issue?

Looks like @Sanguine lost interest in his project. The forum has been closed for five hours already - error 504. Technical support is not responding.

      • link replied to this.

Well its been less than 24 hours. Technical issues happen. It may just be temporary. It would be strange if he just leaves without saying anything. The least he would make an announcement and allow everyone to export data. I think we may just have to wait a bit longer than a few hours. Remember this is a not a paid service.

OrdinaryJellyfish Yes normally but not at the moment. At least I can't log in.

edit: that works now again, as well.

Fla Looks like its back online 🙂

All FreeFlarum forums are back up! A socket glitch in PHP-FPM caused the master process to become out of sync with the actual FPM workers. I will be looking how to fix the root cause and/or a way to automatically resolve this, should it happen in the future. I am sorry to report that a majority of forums have been unavailable for about eight hours, but happy that they are working again. Thanks!

Could you add "Persian Language Pack for Flarum" as well ?

datitisev Thank you so much! That's exactly what I was looking for. I'll wait for Freeflarum to allow custom extensions or the next update.

          Hi, @Sanguine!
Is the latest beta 8.1 planned for the next update of FreeFlarum?
Having to update so many instances, I imagine it could be quite the task!

          Keep up the amazing work!

would be nice to be able to choose from a bunch of simple premade themes
          like this one:
          https://discuss.flarum.org/d/17804-funky-theme
where it's just a matter of copy pasting.

for basic style changes that departs from the default.

maybe also have some that list some dependencies like some extensions needed for the theme to work.

Same goes with the custom header. maybe have us pick from premade ones that we can just replace a picture(s)
and text. so like have lorem ipsum text and generic picture that we replace.

          Hi @Sanguine

Chrome is displaying a warning on all freeflarum sites (both subdomain forums and the main freeflarum.com) that the site’s security certificate expired two days ago. It’s labeled the site as “insecure” and rendered it inaccessible. Just wanted to make sure you’re aware. It would be much appreciated if you could take a look soon. Thanks! 🙂

          Hey @Sanguine -

Ditto on what Somyrion has said. FreeFlarum forums are inaccessible in all browsers because of a certificate error.
