garyricke clarkwinkelmann got it, thanks! Your database wasn't migrated for some reason, syncing your forum fixed the issue. I will re-sync all forums just in case

Hey Guys, anyone know what's happening with this?
Error Log:
[2022-03-31 16:36:27] flarum.ERROR: Symfony\Component\Filesystem\Exception\IOException: Cannot rename "/app/storage/locale/catalogue.en.8Fea9HX.phpQqD0p2" to "/app/public/../storage/locale/catalogue.en.8Fea9HX.php": rename(/app/storage/locale/catalogue.en.8Fea9HX.phpQqD0p2,/app/public/../storage/locale/catalogue.en.8Fea9HX.php): No such file or directory in /app/vendor/symfony/filesystem/Filesystem.php:293
My forum: forum.hallopr.com is currently not loading any elements, just main containers. Screenshot
j-h-all0 do you know how to get custom domain setup right? I’m using namecheap.

j-h-all0 saw the error in your E-mail, but never saw it before, sorry. I tried a few things such as clearing the cache or altering permissions, without luck. I've visited a couple of other forums to see if it happens because of the recent extension update, but they all functioned properly. Have you maybe changed anything that could trigger the error on your end recently?

SKevo I’m having issues with this. Can you help?
my discord is Supernova#1388
I can pm you a screenshot of my dns setup (using namecheap)
Supernova3339 I can't add you, likely because of your privacy settings. You can add me here: Kevo#7590

Hello everyone,
I have started a test forum on freeflarum to see what was possible on flarum in terms of appearance/customization, in the idea to later copy it on a "real" flarum forum on my ftp.
But discovering that I can give a real domain name to the freeflarum version, I now wonder what would be the benefits left from moving to a "real" flarum forum (specially as as a newbie, I'm not enthusiastic at the idea to go threw the installation process, or to manage updates)... I'm not sure to understand what are the differences left.
Is there any advantage in installing flarum on your own ftp? The only four things I see would be:
- Be able to save the entire forum (not just the database - but I don't really understand if the extensions enabled and their options are included in the database you can save from freeflarum settings, and if it's the case the only thing left would be the CSS additions to copy, which is nothing)
- Be able to install extensions still in work in progress
- Be able to modify the html/php/javascript files (and not just the css) from the forum or the extensions - even if I try to do that less because it's always a problem in case of updates...
- Problems if one day freeflarum is stopped.
Did I misunderstood of forgot anything? Is there any advantage or disadvantage of a freeflarum forum (instead of ftp flarum forum) that i don't see (on google searches for instance of whatever)?
TB54 hello and welcome!

Database dump downloaded from FreeFlarum (or technically dumped directly from Flarum) contains everything (including enabled extensions and custom CSS from Appearance settings). Everything except for images. You can download avatars at the moment along with the dump at FreeFlarum, but in the future you'll be able to download other extension assets too.

Yes, the rest of the advantages that you have listed, plus: not being tied to FreeFlarum's limits (for example, user limit - although not enforced at the moment, we may ask you to move away if your forum is way too big for FF to handle).

Congratulations on that! That's actually what's the goal of FreeFlarum - to provide you a starting point for your community to migrate elsewhere later. FreeFlarum doesn't assume that you will be using a free service to host a production forum consisting of +250 users (although some people do that, and then there's a problem if something goes wrong behind the scenes which will make all forums temporarily offline - self-hosting would negate that).
If you are not experienced with Unix/Linux or don't know how to install Flarum and migrate, but you have a server with SSH access, you can message me at Discord (Kevo#7590
) and I will migrate your forum, if I have the time to do so (I have already successfully migrated at around 3 forums and don't ask for anything in return, however supporting me is always very welcome).

Hello, thanks for your message !

That's really nice of you to propose that, but if the idea is to migrate it at some point (I doubt I will have +250 users, but better not take the risk), it would be more easy to just install it on my ftp right now - there is nothing to migrate at the moment, apart from css, extensions (that I can re-install), and some test messages (that I can re-write).
I'm not used to what is asked in the installation docs at all, but I managed to install a phpBB forum without knowing a lot so I suppose I can first try this too, and come back to you if I'm stuck. I keep you updated!

luceos Well, I realize this is all waaay above my capacities and knowledge (I'm stuck at the composer step even with more specific tutorials, not even started the installation), so i risk to create a topic per minute... I will try to look into that more closely when I have more time the next days.
I suppose it has been heavily discuss already, and that it would ask a huge lot of work, but have you thought of a GUI to help the installation ? I mean by that have the less possible things to do on the FTP phase, and be able to access as soon as possible to an interface from which everything can be installed/downloaded/updated (a little like for a wordpress frontend)? Because I think a lot of people like me, aka kinda-newbies (no knowledge beyond html/css) are totally stuck and discouraged by the line codes and all which is asked in the installation.
How can I as an admin edit posts of others in the frontend?
