Kryonoglou What happen with 8 release version? ? Some good extensions out there was write it for this version I don't understand the why!
Digital Kryonoglou We would like our members to understand that there's a lot of effort being focused on beta 8 right now. Please be patient and it will come really really soon!
Kryonoglou I still not understand why some of the plugins work's with beta 8 and now with the latest stable version.
datitisev Kryonoglou As most of of the changes in beta 8 will require rewriting parts of existing extensions, developers have started to work on extensions for beta 8 and update existing ones instead of going through the trouble of having to rewrite them a month or two later.
SnakePromise I'd like to migrate my forum from Drupal to flarum. Would you suggest waiting for beta 8 before doing that?
luceos SnakePromise if you stick to core extensions or extensions by active developers there won't be any issue upgrading to beta 8.
Prosperous SnakePromise I would suggest holding up on it until beta.8 is released. It is ever so close now and may save you migrating to beta.7 only to upgrade to beta.8 soon after. Otherwise don't mind me. I just don't like double-handling in general. ?
SnakePromise Prosperous Yes, the release looks close now (judging by the milesones in github) but the last 9% can take months and month I guess, since beta7 was released more than a year ago AFAIK.
Jenxi Digital You mean we're not supposed to run this on production sites ? Loving Flarum so much that I moved all my communities over.
Digital Jenxi My answer to that... Installation Beta Software Please keep in mind that Flarum is beta software. That means: It still has some incomplete features and bugs ?? and At some point – sooner or later – it will probably break! ? Beta is all about fixing these issues and improving Flarum. We’re busy working hard to make Flarum better, so we ask that you: Don’t use it in production. We can’t support you if things go awry. And upgrading to subsequent versions might involve getting your hands dirty. Report bugs responsibly. Poorly written bug reports take time to deal with, distracting us from adding new features and making Flarum stable. Before you install, please read our Contributing guide so you will know what you’re signing up for! FAQ So can I use the beta version in production? Please? There’s a reason the installation instructions begin by warning against this. Flarum is not mature yet, and there is plenty of room for something to go wrong. Extensions you’re relying on could be rendered incompatible by newer beta versions. Bugs could cause a loss of content or expose private information to the internet at large. Suboptimal SEO could hurt your site’s ranking, making it hard to attract new members. Existing members could get fed up with performance issues or incomplete features and head for greener pastures. And so on … You may decide to ignore these risks and install Flarum anyway. That’s up to you … but please be aware that if things go horribly wrong, it will be your responsibility to deal with them. We can’t guarantee we’ll be able to help you fix your problems at all — much less in a timely fashion. So bear in mind that it’s your site that you’ll be putting on the line, and choose wisely.
