Emoji preview in Write a Post... and Reply...

Currently you only see the : 100: shortcut when writing a port or replying to a post. Would be usefull if you could see the actual Emoji to make larger chunks of text more readable when replying instead of seeing : 100:

There's a preview when you reply to a discussion, but it's separated from the editor. It's at the bottom of the discussion or at the place of the post you're editing. You can click that eye to go to the preview if you scrolled away. Usually the editor appears just under the preview for convenience.

We are however still missing a preview for new discussions ?

If you have a few lines where you need to insert : negative_squared_cross_mark: the text is so long which makes it difficult to read when posting or editing a reply.

Define userfriendly.

As long as there are editors, there is this question, whether markup should be visible and thus editable for the writer or not. Many times I really miss the option to edit the markup in generic text editors like Libre Office.

As a user, I very much prefer to see both, the markup and the rendered output. And I prefer to edit the markup directly. So you need two panes anyway.

You can also insert the unicode version of the emoji. The Flarum autocomplete won't help you (it always inserts the shortcode) but you can use an emoji keyboard (available on every smartphone, and also on recent versions of Windows out of the box I believe) to insert the emoji as a single entity.

Flarum editor shows the raw markup by default. If you prefer WYSIWYG-style editing I think we have an extension for that as well.

Pollux User friendly can be defined by experienced users and non-experienced users. For experienced users this can be easy to read and to write but for less experienced users they might find it difficult to work in a text post which is filled out : : : : : or [IMG] [ B] [ I]

Do agree, an option to enable and disabled rendered output is a good way to balance the needs of the writer

That's what markup is meant to solve. If you read e.g.:

    This is **not** what I said,

do you think it is difficult to comprehend or looks messy?
And if I insert an image:

... and it doesn't show in the preview, I can easily spot the problem and correct it with a single stroke.

Yes, such an editor extension should preferably allow switching between markup and WYSIWYG, although we would end up with two previews, one in the discussion itself and one in the editor, not very intuitive either.
