I genuinely thought it might be working at the time.
I thought terabytesoftw was confirming it working with beta 8, but re-reading the message, I think it was in fact a question not written as a question ?
Obviously it's necessary to at least restructure the javascript for beta 8, so no, the extension isn't compatible with 8 or 8.1 as of now.

terabytesoftw I have not yet taken the time to update it. It's probably one of our least used extensions so it's very low priority.

Hey! I've fixed the extension for Beta 10.
Also i've added "Link Telegram" button to the user settings page, russian language and new notification types:
- newDiscussionInTag,
- newPostInTag,
- discussionCreated,

Great work, I was searching a way to have push notifications and I planned to develop a firebase extension but it's perfect too ! great work !
I will wait for the PR integration in base branch. Nice work !
