valgrid Every important FOSS project has a weird name and nobody knows how to pronounce it. Therefore the developers are ask how to properly pronounce the project name. But sadly it needs many years before the developers bother to record a sound bite with proper pronunciation or somebody is stealthy enough to record them when somebody asks the question about the name. Luckily the community is young enough, so the brave developers (@Toby & @Franz) still have a chance to produce a sound bite for us – before the great pronunciation flame wars begin. Evidence of confusion So how do you pronounce [ˈflarụm] ?
Franz I am pretty certain I'll have bad dreams tonight... about people following me with microphones, asking to pronounce "Flarum". The video on the original Kickstarter page may be a nice source here...
ameo I'm from country when it's usually pronounced as it's written. FLARUM. But as i hear now, it's more like flaerum, which is ok for english speakers, but not for me.
xyweasel I pronounce it as /ˈflɐːɹəm/ but, after watching the Kickstarter video, I'm evidently wrong. But, I'm wrong about how I pronounce gif, so I'll just keep doing what I usually do.
Prosperous I didn't even notice that video! I knew the pronunciation of Flarum as soon as I saw the word for the first time, but esoTalk I pronounced differently. At first I pronounced it as eee-soTalk instead of eh-zoTalk.
