There's nothing preventing the "back" feature to be implemented.
At least from my point of view, the challenge is just that's it's an entire new feature, essentially "impersonate from cookie". Or alternatively, rewrite the entire extension to change user without terminating the existing session. Either of those requires a significant amount of work.
