As discussed in many other topics (which you are free to discuss in), it's not a feature every forum will need, or want (as you need storage space etc.), so it will not be built into core.

But there will be an extension for sure; we'll have to see whether it needs to be official (probably) or not.

P.S.: You can already post images using Markdown, they just need to be hosted elsewhere.

Steve1215 I closed it because you could join that exact discussion in another thread with that subject. There is no use having multiple threads with the same feature request.

And there is already someone working on an extension for this. But Flarum is in a very early stage, so not many developers have heard their calling yet to work on such features.

This sound more like a misunderstanding of the difference between core and extensions. I suggest OP might check out some of the current included and available 3rd party extensions to see just how powerful they can become. I have no doubt that adding attachments will happen by extension and will be just as acceptable a feature as if it were part of the core.

Hi,

I understand the difference, I'm still just a little bit surprised that adding an attachment within forum software isn't considered a core feature, for the reasons at the top of this post. I genuinely can't think of a forum I'm a member of where I haven't posted an attachment in one form or another (again; screenshot, config file, log, other binary)

Sure, as a host you need storage but... well, yeah and how expensive is that these days? I pay 1Euro a month for a 1GB SSD VPS with 30GB of disc.

Anyway moving on. I'd be really interested in knowing where I check out 'some of the current included and available 3rd party extensions' please.

jordanjay29 the marketplace is on the roadmap 😉 and with composer support it shouldn't be too hard to get to at least a listing somewhere in the future.
