Installation

Note: If you installed the extension and its version was 0.6.0, reinstall it. I've retagged the version as 0.1.0 instead of 0.6.0 (it was continuing from hyn/flarum-default-group) to avoid confusion. And because older versions support beta 3.

Use Bazaar or install manually with composer:

composer require fof/default-group

Updating

composer update fof/default-group

Thanks for the very smart extension. I have a question. The quote above seems to imply that it only works for new members. What about the older, existing registered users, are they also added to this default group too?

I just want to know if this will set the default registration group as secondary (other than members) or primary (replacing members)? It would be nice if it only set as the user's secondary group rather than replacing the default primary group.

ahrasis there's no such distinction in Flarum. All users are part of the Members group, that simply signifies logged in users (versus guests). Any groups grant additional rights.

Thank you for your quick response. Actually I was looking into the possibility of having two groups during the registration process, one as a general registered member having access to general boards and the other as a special group member having access to more specific, restricted boards.

I installed this Default Group extension with Doorman extension. The result is Doorman overwrites this extension setting and set only one group for the newly registered user.

Is it because only one group can be set during registration by default?
Can't we set two or more groups for one user during their registration?

ahrasis This extension adds the group when the user has been activated, aka they have been manually verified by a moderator or they have clicked the email confirmation link in their email activation email.

So that confirms that Doorman will override this extension since it can be automatically activated after the code has been successfully verified i.e. before activation by moderator or email confirmation.

ahrasis Perhaps doorman isn’t sending the activated event that default group listens to... I will look into it later today.

I install this extension and cleared cache....
But, when I activate a new user, he is in no_group !!!
And unable to change him to membres/members !

Wellwisher no, only new members.
