Open Collective integration for your Flarum forum. Assign a group to users that back your collective on Open Collective.

This extension has existed since June '19 and has been in use on Flarum Discuss since. I never got around to making a discussion for it, so here it is.

You must have permission to see the user's emails (Collective Admin, sometimes Core Contributor).

Installation

Use Bazaar or install manually with composer:

composer require fof/open-collective

Scheduler

You'll need to set up a Cron job.

* * * * * cd /path-to-your-project && php flarum schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1

Is it possible to give donators access to a tag to only chat with those?

FriendsOfFlarum You must have permission to see the user's emails (Collective Admin, sometimes Core Contributor).

Are the email addresses the factor that identifies a donator? So if someone uses another email for every website this will not work?

Indeed, you can just do this with tag permissions. Only give the permission to see discussions in that scoped tag to the OC sponsor group.

I believe so. There's not much else one can do without requiring a full-on OAuth system (which I don't even know if OC has).

Hi, I'd like to use Open Collective on my flarum installation, but I can't find any detailed documentation on how to do it.
When I click on the link https://opencollective.com/applications I get the following message on the open collective site: Applications have been deprecated in favor of personal token

Can you help me?

Amarok Sorry for the late response. Looks like the extension needs updating to work with personal access tokens instead. There's nothing you can do at the moment to make it work without changing the code.

Amarok Sorry for the late response again. It seems like you can currently use personal tokens in place of api keys and the extension should work. I only discovered this after adapting it to support both API keys (for legacy users) and personal tokens - personal tokens work when I put it in legacy mode. But I couldn't find any info on this (primarily how long it'll work for, since the heading "Api-Key" doesn't seem to be in the docs anymore). I'll still release an update with explicit support for it, but you should be able to use it now I think.

Simply create a personal token without any scopes (leave it empty) -- those are enough perms to get the backers in your orgs.

Added explicit toggle between legacy API key and new Personal Token, plus instructions
- As detailed earlier, they might currently be interchangeable (in terms of using the other's header name - unsure). But I don't know if this permanent for backwards compatibility or temporary, so that's where the toggle comes in.
- Existing installations will have the toggle checked on as soon as they run the migrations after updating -- make sure to run php flarum migrate right after, otherwise the checkbox will become checked if you fill in the token field (it's the same setting key). It'd still work for now if you do that though.
