Finished up the php 8 PR and got it merged 🥳
Followed up with the Laravel 8 components PR.
Handling some organizational matters.

Two weeks and a day since the kick off and 50% of our planned tasks are done 😉

flarumer404 we are not publishing any official date yet. We are very close to stable, with just a few betas / release candidates remaining.

How many betas will there be left? The flarum can already be stable but the feeling with an officell stable version is better

luceos Our hope is to release beta 16 as our first release candidate. A release candidate is a release which is considered viable to be released as stable. Yep, you're reading that right! After beta 16 we hope to have tackled all major extension breaking changes. Any of the following releases might as well be stable 🥳

PHP 7.2 is no longer supported. It might be a good time to upgrade to at least 7.3, but preferably 7.4. PHP 8 compatibility by Flarum will be available in the upcoming release as well.

Hello, is there an estimated date for the release of beta.16? It would be great if it was set on GitHub directly as well, at least to have a rough idea of the period when the next release is scheduled. Thanks

matteocontrini We don't release dates or even precision generalizations until we're 100% sure that we'll meet them. Generally speaking though we've been managing to pull off 3-4 month release cycles on average since beta.12 I think.

You are right. It's great seeing our team hold strongly to the "underpromise, overdeliver" motto. I mentioned the end of March for a beta 16 release somewhere already though.

Hello, Sami here, thought I'd post an update from my side (my first ever ? 😱)

Here's some of what I have been working on during this release cycle:

Bug fixes and additions to the tags extension:
- Minor bug with start discussion global ability (flarum/core2509)
- Fixed starting discussions without tags (flarum/core2510)
- Added permission to bypass tag requirements (flarum/tags111)
- Minor bug where the Tag modal opened without any selectable tags (flarum/tags112)
Added a beforeSending hook to the Notification extender (flarum/core2533)
Allow overriding routes (flarum/core2553)
Opened PRs that fixed a couple UX bugs (flarum/core1670), (flarum/core2628)
Tracked down a potential initial performance fix for forums with a large number of tags (flarum/core2177)
Started investigating the possibility of using vanilla CSS variables in our codebase (flarum/core2600)
Lots and lots of code reviewing 👀

I've also been working on updating fof/clockwork to help with dev work (FriendsOfFlarum/clockwork6), an incredible tool.

Also, big thanks to all those who have been helping out with issues and pull requests 🤗

I haven't been able to do any real code work for Flarum lately. What I have done related to the project:

Work on a new stream of income/funding for the project.
Retrieved ownership of flarum.it, thank you @marcozambi for holding onto that one for us 🙂

YES!! from beta 11, finally it came into existence 🙌 thank you!

edit: I don't see a permission for changing the user image tho.
