Wiki/Database extension (Future development, fundraising)

I would like to know if it is possible to create such an extension.

It would be a completely static system for the users, they would only be able to see the different wiki resources and only the administrators would be able to modify and add new entries.

I don't know if taking all this into account it would be better to use the categories we already have in Flarum or to have a separate category system.

I think the easiest way to understand all this is with images, so here I leave some of what the concept would be:

The main page of this extension would show with images the different themes of the wiki. Therefore administrators could add and remove themes that would disappear from this page.

Once we enter one of the topics, we will have a list with all the entries of this particular topic, as shown here:

If we click on any of these entries we will see the final page of the resource with detailed information about it.

I would like to know if there is anyone interested in making an extension like this, if it is even possible to do it with flarum and your opinions in general. Thank you.

This is absolutely possible, and could either be a redesign of some tag pages, or use its own data structures (this depends on whether you want to share/use Flarum discussion/post tools). Hi! Darkle This sounds interesting. Currently the Support extension indeed has a knowledge feature, that could be used as wiki, but it might not be 'advertised' as such (knowledge base references everywhere 😛 ).

This could be something to implement into the extension, as lot's of companies do have a employee wiki.

The only question that's left: is a wiki support related, or should it be a different extension 🤔

JasperVriends Hey! The Flarum Support extension is really awesome, my congratulations for it, I saw that you also developed Flarum SEO and the new Flarum Blog extension, extensions that I'm sure will be pillars in the future of Flarum 👏.

I will be keeping a close eye on Flarum Support especially if we finally decide to go with Flarum, it will be something to implement sooner or later.

I really think it should be a different extension, it is more of a product wiki than a support wiki, and although at first there is not a big difference between the two, this would be a starting point, the idea in the long term (it would be quite a slow process) would be to introduce around +15.000 product entries and add more functionalities very focused on the wiki, so deep search possibilities, filters and a specific categorization to help the previous ones would be very strong points among other future features that we would like to implement as for example the possibility that users can save certain products in one or more "collections".

That is why the initial development would be something "simple", but that gives us the assurance that there will be no scalability problems in the future.

I would like to say together with @Darkle that we plan to go ahead with this extension in the not too distant future, we would love it to be an open source extension, we believe it can have many applications and can be useful for many communities. For this we are going to prepare a documentation with all the details of the extension, once finished we will publish it in a new discussion with the label Resources/Services looking for a developer or developers interested.

This is the first time we do something like this, if you are a developer who thinks you are capable of developing this extension, we would like to know approximately how much work would be needed (we are not looking for a record time, there is no rush even during development) and an approximate budget via Discord.
