datlechin may be bbcode is customized for optional link preaview future. Currently it converts all links to preview. If we set links to preview as optional, it boceomes better I think.

Yes, it has been fixed in 1.1.2, kudos to the quick response.

By the way, there is a small problem that has always existed. In some previews, the text that should be displayed in English has been changed to Japanese. Does this have something to do with my VPS hosting being in Japan? Influenced its language?

A quick test of 1.2, all link previews do not work.
Need to set all the whitelists?
I have returned to 1.1.2 first, will try again when I find time.

datlechin For some reason I can't get this to update to the newest version on my site. When I install it it installs version v0.1.4 but I can't update to this newer version via composer or the package manager. I've tried it both ways. Package manager says newest version is v.0.1.9 so I'm not sure what's going on.

ernestdefoe Have you required the lastest version on your install or a specific one? Check your composer.json file to confirm that you use "datlechin/flarum-link-preview": "*", or any other version string resolving to 1.2
Other than that; try clearing your composer cache

naxvog I ran the command as in the first post to install the extension with the "*" but it's still installing v.0.1.4

Okay I figured it out. I got v.1.2 installed I didn't have all the dependencies installed like the scrapper which is now installed. I couldn't install it at first because I didn't have a certain php extension enabled which I enabled. Finally got it all figured out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction @naxvog.

Subarist can you confirm that www.ebay.com is in the whitelist? You have to add all subdomains (even the "www" one)

edit: also make sure you have 1.2.1 installed 😉

Some of the things I confirmed:

Seems like the whole JS-code is not executed on pageload as I cannot see the initializer function firing

I was weird too, so I went to update 1.2.1 on the backup site and it worked fine.
Then go back to the main site, first disable link preview and then purge.
Re-enabled and it looks OK now.
