While I'm sure an official extension would be better where you can donate on-site and verify the donation happened (and move a user to a 'doner' or 'premium' group as a thank you?), in the mean-time you can use the 'Html Widget' plugin and simply paste in a button to a service such as buymeacoffee or a paypal link.

In addition to paypal, having Monero donations would be cool. Monero is native to the internet, and thus it has very little friction with the traditional financial institutions. Thus, it should have less moving parts in implementing it as an extension.
