Ubuntu server 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) has been released with good news because the PHP package was updated to version 8.3.6 which now meets the minimum PHP version 8.2 required by Flarum 🥳

Flarfan79 no. Though making flarum multi site compatible is possible, that's how freeflarum operates too; one codebase multiple communities. But as part of Flarum commercial we will likely publish a multi tenancy extension commissioned by a client within the next few months.

GoodTimes because 10 was the latest version when we planned and executed on the upgrade. It is very likely we will do another upgrade before releasing 2.0. Laravel 11 is very new, March 12th in fact.

It'd be very neat to implement meta tags like og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url (visible when sending the link to someone on discord for example). Each site would have its specific og:description.

treyb But that one isn't site specific, like a forum post would have a different description and title. A profile would have the profile image instead of the forum image and so on.

I've fixed an issue with the demos these past few days. There seemed to have been a misconfiguration between Cloudflare and the new server. The demos were down for quite a while probably, and I've only noticed it because I was changing nightly.flarum.site to show the work-in-progress version of Flarum 2. I will look at adding our main demo to our monitoring system as soon as possible.

In the past weeks I pushed forward on releasing the new website for flarum.org (currently visible on next.flarum.org) while making the necessary preparations for Extiverse. An email update will be sent to all its users this week.

One of the major highlights is that Flarum 2.0 will now support SQLite and PostgreSQL, making installation on these platforms possible. This is a significant step forward in widening the range of options for our users.

After working on this for the past weeks, both pull requests have been submitted for internal review: (flarum/framework3984, flarum/framework3985).

It's important to note, however, that while Flarum 2.0 will support these databases, it doesn't automatically guarantee that all third-party extensions will seamlessly work with them. In the future we recommend checking with extension developers for compatibility or updates related to SQLite and PostgreSQL.

serdo Flarum has always and will always aim to be installable on shared hosting first and foremost. Especially with the extension manager this has become a lot easier, it is still advised to have shared hosting that allows ssh/terminal access though.
