OrdinaryJellyfish it's a private discussion extension not private messaging extension
Private messaging
tlalok better than nothing
I don't believe anyone should work for free but it doesn't sound good when you say (always for free) then people have to pay. I still would support u because you took your time to do this and it's a extension that where all looking for .
Good luck
Well if such a basic feature requires payment, it may be a better option to go for a fully paid product instead of Flarum.

SnakePromise As @Ralkage mentioned. There will be a free version available in the future, with basic feature which you can see/use with traditional forum messaging system. There is no need to pay for this version, obviously.
I'm not sure if there will be a free version cause its under my name and not under Reflar.

Shahiem I respect that decision.
But, I think messaging feature, at least the basic ones, should be free and paid for some advanced feature.
Heck, those popular messaging system are free to use (with limitations, of course), ehem Slack ehem Discord ehem.
But, it is just my point of view. I just don't see it working with only paid version, most especially, for the community.
P.S.
Of course, it's your decision. I am not holding you back nor discourage you. Just trying to give you options/model that will work best for you and for the community.
I am sure someone else will make something I described above. Lots of possibilities in Flarum ecosystem.
Edited to clarify my point of view.

Digital, please see: https://discuss.flarum.org/d/5310-reflar-revolutionizing-flarum/67
ReFlar will be tackling a free and pro version in the upcoming new year. Though it isn't officially on our agendas or project timeline, once the holidays blow over, we will begin to create a more organized timeline for 2019. Expect some surprise nonetheless
So my understanding is that there are three projects for this, then?
Flagrow Byobu, which is already available.
ReFlar's free and paid extensions, coming in 2019.
Shahiem's paid extension, coming TBA.

jordanjay29 I consider BYOBU to be a more ADVANCED and MODERN approach to private messaging
What these users want is what they are already used to in other forum software. A more traditional PM system and I just don't think that they understand the overall goal of BYOBU and even you and I would see it in a different way as well. Coming from dealing with every possible forum software you could think of since I was 14, I understand what these users are requesting but at the same time, I fully support BYOBU and Flagrow's take on private messaging.
But yes, you are correct, there are 3 different approaches to this one solution for a feature that users in this discussion are requesting.
The more options the merrier. I support all these projects whichever/whatever approach they think will work for the community.
Always good to have options out there. Good luck!
Shahiem Yes, i know but as a human being we can always change our mind
There's no wrong in changing your mind as it was free but once you offer the paid version , you will have responsibility to the buyers on bugs / updates and upgrade as flarum grows.
Ralkage A “pro” version could also include hooks into other extensions for added features on the flip side
As long as the Pro version has the option to permit witch members can send messages and witch can't it will be worth every penny.
Thank's guys
Hi, when its gonna be public?
Yes any update on what;s going on with the Messaging system for flarum ?
Thanks
I consider it a failure in architecture when such a basic feature isn't in the core. It inhibits Flarum's success.
I know that there are addons for Private Messages... but I want to say something:
Private Message System is too important to delegate to third parties. I am sure that these developers have created these messages-addons with all their best intention, but webmasters have very critical information in those messages to leave on hands of someone who is today... and tomorrow may be not, for different reasons.
I can assure you that many webmasters will not migrate to Flarum for this reason and they will go directly to Disclourse or similars just for this thing: Native Private Messages.
Please, reconsider it. We want to feel safe, we want update Flarum with security that everything will be updated correctly at once (and not waiting for the addon-developer in every F. update)
