KajMagnus Can I ask what are the two most important ways in which Flarum is better?
It's difficult for me to judge which software is better, unless I have investigated every aspect of it thoroughly. That having said, I try to figure out whether a software fits my needs and that includes (very important for me) skipping those parts I don't need. I don't want to turn off a lot of bells and whistles knowing that they are still under the hood and slow down my forum.
Toby and Franz are both well known advocates of the KISS-principle, furthermore they have undertaken tremendous efforts to make the software extensible, so that a lot of third party developers became interested to help out with missing functions. In my opinion, that's the perfect approach to software.
The third aspect I really like is the attention to details, details which - on the programming level - are neglected all to often and then later turn out to be very costly. Take a look at Flarum's open issues, especially those opened by the developers themselves, and you may understand what I mean.
I haven't taken enough time to look at TalkYard in detail, but what I saw at the surface didn't encourage me to look a lot further. Visual elements are not aligned properly, proportions look weird in some places etc. pp., and then there is this table like look of the topic list I never found compelling (but that's probably just me). Tables are for statistical data (in my opinion), they don't encourage interaction very much.
