Hi, i did still get the error and the a whole encyclopedia as debug info - BUT - i checked all the extensions and FoF Pretty Mail caused in the end all the havoc! But i have actually not the slightest idea why 🙂

NoIdeaWhatThatIs the issue seems to be with email. This extension just happens to send email notifications. It's probably not specific to this extension though.

Do other email notifications send without issues? Test email from admin panel, subscribed discussions, etc.

So i've set up my mailserver and everything is now up and running, i've checked also the functionality by mailing a mail to myself via googlemail and it worked, and yet i get stil those lenghty errors via debug info.

Installed vanilla (O.S.) forums too to check if there are simillar problems but everything runs fine.

NoIdeaWhatThatIs can you share the credentials (except password) that you use for the SMTP settings?

If you're using GMail, make sure you have created and is using an application password and that you are using the correct email address as sender name in Flarum.

luceos for the domains which are not directed towards Cloudflare yes, but the domain i used for flarum goes directly through cloudflare and that seems to cause the problem.

This is not the first social script (in tandem with Cloudflare) i have to theme and i've never experienced something like this before so this is all a bit new to me.

luceos what i've found out so far is that it hasn't to do anything with cloudflare since flarum gave me the same errors with the native/vanilla DNS settings.

I've also had a short mail exchange with my hoster and it seems i have no dedicated mail server just a shared one since i have a webhosting package.

We both (the supporter and me) also really didn't understood why a forum requires the complex route with a dedicated mail server since most other forum scripts are working simply right out of the box by providing an admin email and that's basically it, so that would be surely interesting to know 🙂

This usually only works if the server you run on handles the email for you, in this case you can choose the mail option in Flarum. This option will use the php native function mail() which, in its official documentation states

It is worth noting that the mail() function is not suitable for larger volumes of email in a loop. This function opens and closes an SMTP socket for each email, which is not very efficient.

Understand that that "shared mail server" is actually the one you should be communicating with. If they set up your hosting plan correctly the mail function will interact with that shared mail server on its own, given you abide to the requirements of that shared mail server (eg sending on behalf of the right email address - from).

Flarum does not require a dedicated mail server. Most hosting plans, hosting control panels and pretty much anyone with an email address (including people using gmail, outlook etc) have the ability to send email using smtp for/on behalf of their inbox/mail address, as such this is another option natively supported by Flarum. No dedicated service is required for this.

In fact using SMTP as the mail driver is the most reliable and most flexible option that Flarum provides. Because it allows you to use any email service available, including those your hosting provider set up.

PS the error mentions the SMTP driver, so perhaps you should use the mail option from the mail selection list.

Well this is what i did from the start and up til now, and i'd get these lenghty errors after i've clicked send test mail.
Should i reinstall flarum even still if everything else works? What would be the best most effective option in my case?

Ps: what means encryption under SMPT settings, checked that one alternatively and i had all necessary credentals except the encryption one.

luceos had now a full day off and i've managed to make things run again, so Flarum works now for me.

The problem was in my case actually a lapidary one and it had something to do for the semi-descriptive titles for forms.
I've added my (email) control panel username into the field which is literally a username and not an email address 🙂 .

So the descriptions for the input forms weren't clear enough for ->ME<- in the SMPT settings.
If i may make a suggestion, please make use of ::placeholder texts for forms like for example in the SMPT setting for the Username form -> (Placeholder: Email etc).

NoIdeaWhatThatIs I had a terrible time getting email up and running, but in the end here's what worked for me, in case it's helpful 🙂

Got a free account at https://brevo.com . They give me 300 free emails per day, which is plenty for my forum 🙂
Change my Flarum admin -> email setting like so:

addresses: whatever you set up in Brevo
driver: smtp
port: 587
username: The email address of your Brevo account
password: Brevo will give this to you
