@JoshyPHP do you need to have BBcode enable in order for the mediaembed to work or will it work with markdown?

It tranforms links regardless of other extensions. Just post the link, it'll get embedded.

@JoshyPHP I see that you can add sites to the extension manually I am guessing. I am more interested in actually being able to process a regular site and just quickly create a quick info box of either the title or description and a small excerpt of the content. Maybe use the fav icon, or the OG icon or even an image from the site if available and display it in a nice box on the discussion just like many of the media links that are supported.

I am not sure if your extension has it but it would be nice if it does, just like "onebox" from discourse which tries to use a website's OG information tags to make it easier to the scraper or use the title and description for such information.

Anyway just a thought.

I did get to try out the supported sites and they work really nice.

No, it only handles specific, preconfigured websites. You'd need a different extension for that. There's currently no plugin that does that in my library either.

I've just tried installing this on a test instance of Flarum but it isn't appearing in my Extensions list for some reason.

Downloaded the latest update, unzipped, put the folder into the Extensions directory...but it doesn't show up in the Admin interface. Any idea why?

None whatsoever. FWIW I've just tried the 0.2.1 archive and it works for me.

You should have a s9e-mediaembed directory in your extensions directory. Inside of it there should be a bootstrap.php file and a flarum.json file.

Marius That seems correct. Are you sure you're looking at the correct directory? You should test whether you can access the files via the webserver. For example my test forum is at http://localhost/flarum/ and I can access the flarum.json file via http://localhost/flarum/extensions/s9e-mediaembed/flarum.json

Marius I am running into the same issue you were where I have downloaded the extension and installed it but the extension does not appear on my list of extensions. Could you please tell me how you fixed this issue, or if anyone else had this issue, please let me know how you fixed it.

If you install and try to use it will crash your server (500 error)

flame The extension is not extendable itself, but you can configure the s9e\TextFormatter library. There are some examples in the table of contents there: http://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.org/Plugins/MediaEmbed/Synopsis/

JoshyPHP nice extension and it works flawlesly... Would it be possible to add a bbcode for jwplayer or flowplayer for rtmp links? ...and then for us to just add the link we want manually?

vargmal I don't have any plans for a generic video player. Your best bet would be to either write your own extension that creates a custom BBCode or wait for someone to write an extension that manages custom BBCodes.

lorde As of last commit, it looks like this is still just compatible with Beta 3.

It should work with beta-4. It works on my local installation and I'm like 99% sure it's beta-4. Either way the best way to find out is to install it yourself.

BlackSheep A few other extensions broke on Beta4, it's best to assume caution until the extension owner (or some adventurous soul, including yours) clears it for use.
