0.2: Better Backend
The next release will focus on making Flarum's backend code solid as a rock. Or should I say SOLID as a rock? No? In any case, this release will include:
- 💁 Improved installation/upgrading experience
Ultimately, Flarum will always have minimum requirements. There's no magic formula or crystal ball that allows us to guarantee that certain changes will be made, but we have pledged to make improvements to the process. At some point, there will be a minimum line drawn underneath where Flarum simply won't run, and those who want to use Flarum will need to find a host that is better than that.
Such are the realities of running software on any platform.
We use Composer right now because it best fits the changing requirements of Flarum and its dependencies while still in Beta. And rather than have this as a means to stop our advance towards stable, our Flarum developers have set improving this situation as a goal for the 0.2 version. We cannot pledge that 0.2 will see the removal of composer entirely, but we can pledge to make improvements to the current processes and try to alleviate some of the pain in using it.
