@Sanguine i ran the migrate to flarum scan, and it shows that some extensions are outdated, like byobu, pages, reactions and discussion views. any plans to update?

vaultboy the newest byobu is a beta. I'd wait for a stable 0.5 to be tagged. If I'm not mistaken @IanM considers doing that soon.

Hello all,

New here and really don't know how to install Flarum on an AWS EC2 even though I already did same for Dicourse, but running another project that would specifically need the extensions of this software. So I set out to use it and to be sincere, I find this to be a very powerful software after first knowing about it in 2017 (but without this active community then. Only saw a mockup). But these are stories, anyways, and do not reflect the scope of this question.

Since I could not install this software on my server, I moved to test it out using Free Flarum services and then I noticed where it was written like the hosting there is free forever, paid for by donations from everyone. And at the height of my happiness, I saw the shocker: "A free forum powered by Free Flarum (remove)" proudly written on the bottom of the forum while the link to remove it contains nothing of such info.

I have seen the Free Flarum hosting services to have good representatives here and have also gone through some of the posts here before making this topic and nothing of this sort has been attended to. So can anyone help out with ways to remove that; even if it includes paying for the hosting.

Is there any way I can install some extensions from my part without recommending it? Some of the extensions I'd be needing may not really be used full time for other communities.

I'll be creating a community for rewarding users so for every activity each user performs, I'll be paying them. I understand that Money Extension does the trick which is quite good. I'll be looking for other extensions too like Flagrow/Ads from where I can run ads that will guarantee I get paid too. Luckily, some of the other extensions I'd be needing are already added by default; needing just some activation from my end which is a very big thumbs up to you for a job well done. So how do I (or other people) get to add our own preferred extension?

(And yeah, I understand that giving users power to do this ultimately mean exposure to the server as anyone can just put some malicious codes in the extensions. But maybe this would metamorphose into something else like you hosting flarum communities and giving users power to run their VPS machine. What do you think?)

I only want to do the most request / most important updates to the FreeFlarum platform, because every update has the risk of introducing bugs / crashes.

That's not how FreeFlarum works. One of the reasons it's still free is because each flarum forum (tenant) uses the same Flarum code and dependencies, including extensions. Extensions installed for one are available to all.

If you cannot live with this limitation, you are better off running your Flarum forum elsewhere.
