I see the following error multiple times in your forum logs:

flarum.ERROR: Symfony\Component\Debug\Exception\FatalThrowableError: Call to undefined method Illuminate\Container\Container::url() in /app/vendor/fof/pretty-mail/src/BladeCompiler.php(18) : eval()'d code:50

It seems that FoF Pretty Mail is using an unsupported method. When users are mentioned, a mail is sent to them indicating that there is a new reply, which is likely to trigger the error above. I can report this to the FoF Pretty Mail thread

That seems to make sense,... I can disable the extension and see how it goes... I'm guessing the only difference would be that email notifications would be more plain... no big deal for now...

btw. is there a way I can access the forum logs to see and track errors?

No, but we're doing a recode/code cleanup for FreeFlarum and I was thinking of some way to peek in the logs for forum owners, so that they can report the errors to developers right away without us needing to interfere. No ETA though

someperson there is the Subscribed extension, but I don't know if it's available on FreeFlarum.

They might not like it due to the large amount of mail it can generate.

EDIT: it might be for discussions only, and not posts 🙉

clarkwinkelmann someperson Currently, no extension that generates a lot of mail is available at FreeFlarum. This might change later, but we need to discuss it first.

If you want to get notifications about new posts, I usually recommend people to setup FoF Webhooks - this way, you can get almost instant notifications to Discord or Slack (it should support option to notify you on every discussion and post, if I remember correctly)

hey my forum is focused on educational questions and answers......so most of the discussions are questions that students post on the forum to get help from others..........In this case they need to have no limit on title.....................because if there is a title limit then they will have to post DISCUSSIONS with titles like.................HEY PLZ HELP ME WITH THIS ONE atc...........and this is truly awkward as seen from SEO point of view

As far as I know, this is impossible due to database limits and setup that FreeFlarum uses. An extension could extend the limit, but it can never be limitless due to how databases work.

All you can do right now is politely ask them to structure the titles to the point and without unnecessary words in order to make your forum more structured and organized. Also, you could have a "Help Wanted" tag, depends on your use case.

You see, a forum can never be perfect and you'll always need someone to control the content. So, I'd recommend to make some discussion guidelines and control inappropriate one manually. FoF Filter and other extensions (Approval, etc.) can help you to some extent.

But still I am having problem with that title problem...........I am not saying that it should be limitless but since my forum is educational oriented right now.........any academic question posted will not fit into 80characters.

lakshya it is currently not possible. I remember that there was some extend.php script that extended the limit and there was a discussion on that here on Discuss, but I can't find it. Also, FreeFlarum synces files for all forums, so we can't really make specific exceptions

Academic or not, anyone should be able to provide a subject similar to email subjects. You don't want those to be long either as they aren't rendered in most mail clients anyhow.

The best way is to provide community guidelines that offer suggestions on what you think are good titles. You will still need to do some moderation on titles to keep the awful ones at bay or to improve SEO, in fact that is what I do on occasion too here on discuss.

I am not discouraging you. But if you check those SEO guidelines online you can clearly see that Google does not like topic headlines that are too long. I think you mistook the fact that headings/URL should be descriptive. While it should be, a long URL is always a very very bad idea if you are focusing on SEO benefits.

I am now really worried of the member limit and frequent TOO MANY REQUESTS ERROR............I don't know anything[means nothing, mariadb, PHP, composer etc.....] I was just blessed by having freeflarum......but now the only thing that is stopping me go fluently is this problem........if more than limited members joined,.....i can't install flarum..........

lakshya "Too Many Requests" happen when you're too fast between requests and you're being rate limited. This is to prevent spam and it's set the same accross all forums. We could increase the threshold, but then the server load might be higher (as we allow more requests per client). This should have nothing to do with user limit, as FreeFlarum doesn't have a check when particular member limit is increased.

You're the only one who is having too many requests error, so I don't see the point of increasing it for all forums and risk having more concurrent requests which will result in higher server load globally. Noone else reported this problem so far anyways, and that error should be limiting requests per client, so perhaps don't be so fast between requests and you'll be fine. If it's somewhat related to your high user count, we can't do much about that other than kindly provide you a database dump and ask you to move elsewhere, as we do not support forums with huge traffic.

The limits are five times the average of all users of the service. Specifically, this means that no more than 250 users per forum are supported.

...and more than ~ 50 visitors active at the same time, interacting with the forum by viewing or participating in discussions.

I don't know user count of your forum. If it's not that big, the error has nothing to do with user count as it should be per user, and it does not depend on visitor count. I wrote the part about user limits because I took in account the possibility that 429 can be triggered when there are too many requests from all users, but on second thought I remembered that PHP-FPM handles it per client, so what I wrote was pretty much a nonsense

Put simply, don't be so fast between clicking, posting discussions, page reloads and similar stuff and you're fine.
