and the support mail is returnend told me that not exists.. what's happen?

    ghiboz reset your custom domain

ghiboz and the support mail is returnend told me that not exists.. what's happen?

That's a known issue I haven't had time to look into yet, sorry. It will be fixed either today or during weekend

ghiboz whisperwow FYI mail issues should be fixed now

Also I looked into your search issue whisperwow. It seems that importing the SQL database from the old server and then merging it with your current one helped to fix the database, which means that the search should now work, and hopefully you didn't lose any new discussions made after the migration(?)

SKevo Thank you. The search functionality is working again. Appreciate the help!!!!

SKevo As was announced a while ago, if you are using a custom domain, you MUST update your CNAME to point to cname.freeflarum.com instead, then re-setup your domain at https://freeflarum.com/settings/forum_settings (set your domain to the default yourname.freeflarum.com one - as it was during signup - then set it back to your custom hostname).

        Hello,

I'm sorry, I'm lost with this.

        • When you say "update your CNAME to point to cname.freeflarum.com", you mean "cname" in the url must be replaced by our freeflarum name? Because in my host, the CNAME redirection already points to a "cinstudtest.flarum.com".
        • And what do you mean by resetup the domain?

Sorry, I'm must be slow on this but I wouldn't want to broke anything...

If it helps, for now my redirection host looks like that (forum.cinestudia.fr being my desired final url):

And the freeflarum settings looks like that:

TB54 When you say "update your CNAME to point to cname.freeflarum.com", you mean "cname" in the url must be replaced by our freeflarum name? Because in my host, the CNAME redirection already points to a "cinstudtest.flarum.com".

Apologies for the confusion. The CNAME now must point to cname.freeflarum.com instead of your FreeFlarum host, as all *.freeflarum.com hosts are proxied through Cloudflare

TB54 And what do you mean by resetup the domain?

Set your custom domain to your FreeFlarum host (reset it in the FreeFlarum settings), then update your CNAME record at your registrar, then set your FreeFlarum URL to your custom domain again (technically, "re-setup" it)

          • TB54 replied to this.

SKevo reset it in the FreeFlarum settings

How can I reset it? In settings page I see "Fixup forum", "Link custom domain", and "View Flarum logs".

              Original context

TB54 I apologize for not being specific. What I mean by "reset" is essentially that you go to your FreeFlarum settings, "Link custom domain" section and replace your current domain withcinstudtest.freeflarum.com. This "resets" (emphasis on quotes) your custom domain back to your FreeFlarum hostname, as it was when you first registered the forum. This step is necessary, so that FreeFlarum can process the new CNAME record.

When your domain is back to your freeflarum.com hostname and your custom domain has a CNAME record pointing to cname.freeflarum.com, you can get back to your FreeFlarum settings and link your custom domain, e. g.: set your forum's hostname back to forum.cinestudia.fr. Once you save changes, and everything went correctly, you should get a browser alert that the domain was set up correctly. If this is not the case, and you get some other message (such as that your domain does not CNAME to cname.freeflarum.com), you might need to wait for a while for the changes to propagate (usually 5 - 10 minutes, but that can vary).

If the link was successful, you should be able to access your forum under your custom domain again (unless there is some DNS or browser cache in place on your side - in that case, try visiting the forum from another device or in private browsing to verify that your domain is indeed accessible by others, and that it is not a cache thing).

SKevo Thanks for the details, I understand much better now!

It doesn't seem to work after a little hour, though.

                On my host side:

On freeflarum settings, once I've done the reset (which worked), when I try to enter my domain:

It maybe need more time, I will see if it works better tonight.

TB54 indeed, it seems that the CNAME hasn't yet been updated:

It seems that the TTL (time to live) is set to 1 hour, which means that the record should be updated 1 hour after it was queried by FreeFlarum, so you may attempt to re-link it then (perhaps I could add this information to the browser popup?) But I can confirm that the record seems to be set up correctly in your DNS settings.

                  • TB54 replied to this.

SKevo Ok, thanks a lot for taking the time to look at this in detail! I keep you updated if it doesn't work tonight.

Helllo @SKevo ! It still doesn't work this morning, does it says something on your side about the remaining time?

TB54 I just queried it, and it has around 150 seconds left, not sure what went wrong in the DNS

FYI I've forcefully linked your custom domain, regardless whether the CNAME is present or not. When the DNS changes propagate, your forum should hopefully work

TB54 I've now queried it as it reaches 0, and the timer just resets back. Are you sure that the DNS change went through at your domain registrar? It should CNAME to cname.freeflarum.com, but seems to CNAME to cinstudtest.freeflarum.com instead.

Try deleting the record and creating it again instead of updating it

Thanks, that finally did the trick! Seems the problem was on my host side all along... Thank you very much for the help, all works fine now.

SKevo thank you: with the custom domain reset it's ok, but now I'cant log in into 'caused by recaptcha:

ghiboz it seems that the reCAPTCHA key you have provided in the reCAPTCHA extension settings at your Flarum administration page is incorrect. If you tell me/mail me at info@freeflarum.com your forum URL, I can turn off the extension for you, so that you are able to log in and update the extension's settings

FreeFlarum is a free flarum hosting service, but sites that don't donate 7€ (about 55 yuan, 170 VND) will be marked with the "Powered by FreeFlarum" logo. After activating the Asirem theme, it's very stuffy (a small white piece at the bottom).

I can't comment I cheated and wrote js code (DFFF-js) to hide the "Powered by FreeFlarum" logo from the page. Anyway, this is just an experiment, it's too...

I don't know if there are any side effects, haven't tested the measuring technique. Only
need to insert it in background->Appearance->Custom Footer,

(Modded by @luceos, here used to be an offsite link to javascript that wasn't screened that can cause your FreeFlarum forum to be terminated)

Litalino as much as I appreciate your efforts in creating an obfuscated and benign looking JavaScript, as the current FreeFlarum maintainer and server administrator, I must remind you that according to FreeFlarum's ToS, it is forbidden to hide the FreeFlarum footer without donating. The least you can do to show some appreciation for having a free Flarum hosting is to let us spread the word, as it's what keeps the service alive. Thank you.
