Free Flarum hosting on an expert platform by FreeFlarum.com
matteocontrini i approved ownership by google analytics for www.example.com but its not letting me approve by example.com
lilkim are you using the new Search Console? If I remember correctly in the new console you don't need to verify the www and non-www versions indipendently.
Anyway, what do you mean with "it's not letting me approve [...]"? Is there an error, or...?
matteocontrini i verified by DNS it just takes some hours for google to verify, Thanks
I added cloudflare to my custom domain and my website is down. this is the screenshot from my cloudflare https://snag.gy/8FLA30.jpg
lilkim make sure you add the non-www version as well
Hey, I want to change to custom domain of my Free Forum, so I went to the DNS Settings of my Domain Provider. I changed all the records to CNAME and put in the value freeflarum.com/settings gave me. In the DNS record, I can also change the TTL (which is at 1440 right now) and the Prio (at 0). Do I need to change the TTL or Prio?
_MST2_ TTL is the time to live of the records. You usually don't want it too short, nor too long in case you need to do an update.
I suggest you keep whatever defaults your DNS provider use, or do some research and decide for yourself what value is the best.
It would be best to get a response from @Sanguine , but it shouldn't matter for FreeFlarum because he's using CNAMEs, so he controls his own TTL on the CNAME record and can update it accordingly.
I'm not sure what prio is. Priority maybe ? Not sure if that's part of the DNS spec for CNAMEs...
I have created the CNAME Records and I tried to change the domain in the Settings Page, but it always says that there is no CNAME Record for the FreeFlarum domain even though there is.

There are no DNS records on that domain, other than information about the nameserver.

_MST2_ what kind of DNS provider is that ?
It was under the impression that the DNS specification does not permit to have a CNAME record at the root if there is another record, as as there is always an NS record this not possible.
However I notice the FreeFlarum docs say otherwise https://www.freeflarum.com/docs/howto/custom-domain/#using-a-root-naked-domain According to these it could work.
As matteocontrini pointed out, you can try querying the domain yourself, it doesn't return any A or CNAME record. I have the same results.
The best would be to contact your hosting provider to see whether they really support adding a CNAME at the root, or not use the root domain and go for a subdomain instead.
clarkwinkelmann as far as I know most providers don't support that. CloudFlare does, but by requesting the A record for you and returning it when the @ domain is requested. So it's a workaround, but it works
Hi, I've just realised I cannot access my forum created at FreeFlarum, is there any issue?
Well its been less than 24 hours. Technical issues happen. It may just be temporary. It would be strange if he just leaves without saying anything. The least he would make an announcement and allow everyone to export data. I think we may just have to wait a bit longer than a few hours. Remember this is a not a paid service.
link You can already export your data here: https://www.freeflarum.com/settings

OrdinaryJellyfish Yes normally but not at the moment. At least I can't log in.
edit: that works now again, as well.
