Have just updated FreeFlarum with an improved Nginx webserver configuration. Due to the large number of forums, it got a bit slow. Not anymore!

Hey awesome @Sanguine , I just added a few available extension to my forum with backed ltd.freeflarum.com but it is now giving following error -

"Something went wrong while trying to load the full version of this site. Try hard-refreshing this page to fix the error."

Is there any way to do hard-refresh from my side.. or this is something that you can do on your side only?

nanowhiz what extensions did you enable? This happened to my forum too earlier when enabling fof/drafts.

While it's not working yet and asking me to hard-refresh, I did notice something new at the footer which says - "A free forum powered by Free Flarum (remove)" It asks to make some donation to remove this footer.
While I am completely in support of this concept and do understand why this donation is necessary to run all this.. but here is my issue.

I had this forum previously on my self-hosted server but planning to migrate since the old server credit is expiring. But then I noticed this amazing thing called Freeflarum. Currently, I don't earn any money from this community but I do have plans to make it a nice professional community. For all this, I want to make it white-labeled. I would love to make some donations once I start making some earning or getting some considerable traffic . So, is there any way to be able to remove it?

PS: I can surely donate $5 or something but it feels embarrassing to pay such a low amount for the amazing service you guys are doing.. but I hope you understand my worries.

Wait for @Sanguine, he'll help you with your forum not loading entirely, but I'm pretty sure it's a bug in the drafts extension.

About the donations, you can donate the amount you want - even if it has to be the $5. Every penny helps Sanguine to pay for his dedicated servers. You can also reason with him, and he'll surely make an exception. Another option is to keep the footer there - it is a small footer and it'll help FreeFlarum to get more users, so if you want to support FreeFlarum, this could be the minimum you can do. However I completely understand that the footer makes your forum look unprofessional.

In India, "Tata Nano" was an amazing affordable car but since it was promoted as the 'cheapest car', most of the consumer hated to buy to avoid being tagged as poor. The reason is almost the same when something says it's free on the front for end-users.. as then they don't value the effort and/or motive. 🙂

So, I will surely want to help him in another manner if I keep using the service for professional usage.

Let's wait for @Sanguine for further help.

nanowhiz Unfortunately I cannot tell what the cause was. I suspect two extensions that are incompatible with each other. Side note: only enable extensions that you really need, because more extensions will make your forum a (tiny bit) slower.

To repair your forum, I have reset the enabled extensions for you. Could you try and deduce after which extension your forum fails, by enabling one by one? I have a nagging feeling that reflar/nightmode is involved, but am unsure which is the root cause yet.

Re donations: everything is welcome, even $1. Just donate what value FreeFlarum creates for you now, and what you can miss (the lowest of these two 😉)

You are absoluteluy right there! However, I didn't start FreeFlarum to make a lot of money, but to enable many people to start a forum. I'll offer it for free, at the risk of people thinking it must be low quality (even though it breaks my heart 😁)

BDW, is there any extension or any other way to be able to see all my registered users in a list? Or any other easier way to collect all their emails to send them important newsletters?

Also, can I import my own users which were already registered to my forum on my old server with same domain name erc. ?

Flarum does currently not support adding users from the admin panel, there's an issue for that: flarum/core885

About the mails, unfortunately FreeFlarum does not support sending mails to every user at once, if you mean that. FF uses Mailgun and there is some limit for sending mails, so we gotta think of that first. See #1 for similar problem.

Otherwise, you just gotta browse their profiles :/

About mails, it seems I was not very clear with what I wanted to ask. Actually, I didn't want to send emails from Freeflarum or within the dashboard. I do have subscription to other platforms like MailChimp for that purpose. I was looking for some ways to export the emails of all registered users under the forum .csv format or any other way and then import it under MailChimp or other similar platform and then send newsletters.

BDW, the setting page FreeFlarum says "You can import your database by running mysql <yourdbname> < ltd.sql" I thought it says there is some way to import or merge the SQL database from my previous forum database.

Anyways, Is there any guide about how to use 'Database dump' and 'avatars' downloaded from freeflarum forum in case I want to migrate from Freeflarum in the future. Will there be any kind of data/content loss in this purpose?

As Sanguine said, there is currently no way you can import users, but you can only register accounts for them through Incognito mode by using their E-Mails and temporary passwords you choose. The Doorman also supports refferals and it's avaliabe on FreeFlarum. That's all you can do for now.

@nanowhiz as far as I know, SQL dump from your forum contains (almost) everything - discussions, posts and their content, even data from extensions.

Me and Sanguine are writing documentations for FreeFlarum slowly as time passes by. But due to me being busy with other things, and Sanguine being busy too, we cannot write and respond to everyone in a day. More tutorials will of course come, but for now we got other priorities that we need to look into first. If your forum is new, you do not need to worry about stuff like this for now, until you hit a bigger amount of users.

By the way, FF automatically backups forums every day to a servers outside the FreeFlarum, but I still recommend you to download the SQL dump maybe once a month, in case the servers get suck in a black hole (just kidding, but you never know... 🤔).

And I bet there will be a way to import/export certain parts of your forum, it just won't be done by tomorrow. Some things just need time 😉
