What is the exact procedure for the CNAME thing

CNAME RECORD forum.mydomain.com mydomain.freeflarum.com ??

And then enter forum.mydomain.com in the freeflarum setting box ? No IP address nothing ?

In the box, you just gotta write yourforumname.freeflarum.com - no IP address needed.

Now it’s working.
i don’t know what exactly was the problem. But finally it added subdomain.mydomain.com on freeflarum which it wasn’t doing earlier.

I also added two CNAMES
One for subdomain to the freeflarum one and subdomain.mydomain.com to the freeflarum one.
I’m still not sure whether that was necessary.

Also it still didn’t work on the network I was on. But works on my mobile network.
So that maybe some dns cache flush issues. But earlier it wasn’t working on any

Leaving this here for others atleast those using Namecheap.

Thanks again Sanguine. I’m going to make a donation of 5 Euros to get the freeflarum off though this is still a forum for my testing with a small group of people. If this takes off I will make a monthly donation.

Dns changes - especially so on existing records - take time to resolve to all servers worldwide, including those you are connected to. That might have given you the impression it isn't working..

I have imgur upload extension added. I have not put anything in Imgur Client ID( No idea how it works)
When I tried to upload the images its shows "error" for some 5 seconds and then nothing happens.
Do let me know what to do.

@itachi of course it doesn't, Client ID is required. You need to get an Imgur App for it to work.

The extension uploads the image to Imgur by using your app Client ID and then just pastes the image link into the post composer.

itachi upload to any image hosting, then just paste the direct link.

But we are always looking forward to write more docs for FreeFlarum. Tomorrow I could write a detailed tutorial about the Imgur extension to help you 🙂.

Which free email service works best on freeflarum for configuring the following section
Configure the driver, settings and addresses your forum will use to send email.

As in is it easiest to get the free mailgun account initially and set it up using that ?
Or is Zoho Mail ok ?

I think that anything that allows you to setup the settings mentioned works. I don't know, which one is the best but I'm using Gandi's Mail settings and I'm happy. They are domain registar, but for any purchased domain you'll also get free 2 mailboxes.
I don't know about Mailgun, but if you want a free inbox, I recommend GMail.

Flagrow upload is not allowed on FF (and anything that allows direct upload of files to FreeFlarum. It is because people could upload dangerous files or scripts inside FreeFlarum, which would infect other forums).

For upcomming extension requests, open up an issue here.

It would be possible with an extension that can upload files to third party services, something like Imgur upload does. For now, FreeFlarum doesn't allow the upload of files. Sorry. I'll keep searching and I'll make a request shortly if I find anything.
