This is a tutorial on installing a Flarum install from scratch on a VPS with Debian7. This is not a step by step tutorial. Do not try to follow everything I do exactly because you will quickly become lost, confused and wondering how on earth you get out of vim.
This is a guide for people who > know how to navigate around on the terminal, how to setup basic config files, can figure out basic debugging problems and are having trouble figuring out what they're missing to get flarum to run.
Also, have patience - I'm moving pretty fast and it still took a half hour ?
The end result is a working flarum install.
I - (in no exact order)
- Start from scratch (I reinstalled Debian7 and start from there)
- Secure the sshd server
- Install webserver (nginx) and configure it
- Install php5-fpm and configure it
- install mysql and configure a database
- Watch me debug various issues I run into.
