That’s like saying there’s no point in having the markdown buttons in the toolbar.
Not everyone uses the rich text extension. Use the markdown buttons here at discuss.flarum.org. See how they work? This is the same thing. It especially helps a user remember what a certain BBCode is and/or saves them from typing as much.
