📣 The Release

We step into the summer 🌅 with another release. Version 1.4 follows within two months of 1.3 to tackle a wide range of bugs and improve extensibility. Many of these improvements are purely internal focused at core, but cascade into the ecosystem through bundled and community extensions.

  • 🔗 Rel and target attributes on links can now be modified using extensions (flarum/framework3455)
  • 💦 Long topic titles in the notification dropdown don't overflow (flarum/framework3500)
  • ⛔ Sub tags of tags a user has access to are visible even though the user has no access to those sub tags (flarum/framework3419)
  • 🏷️ Without any tags required the tag modal would be forced on the user regardless (flarum/framework3448)
  • 👮 Once a suspension is over the modal showing the suspension would still be shown (flarum/framework3449)

👨‍💻 For Developers

All extensions compatible with Flarum 1.3 will work with 1.4. There was no need for an upgrade guide this time. If you receive any bug reports or have questions, feel free to hop onto our Discord into the #extend channel.

⤴️ Upgrading

❗Before you upgrade, make sure to create a backup of your public/assets directory, your composer.json and your database!

Before starting the upgrade process, ensure you are on Flarum 1.0.0 or above in your Admin Dashboard or by typing php flarum info. If you're not, use the previous release notes for upgrading from an earlier version.

To upgrade from a version 1 Flarum to version 1.4, take a look at our upgrade guide documentation. The process should be much easier compared to previous major version upgrades, due to the lack of breaking changes.

🆘 If you run into any issues, please open a new discussion under the Support tag. Ignore similar discussions, and open a new one anyhow. Make sure to mention the output of php flarum info, composer why-not flarum/core v1.4.0, and any errors to their fullest.

    luceos stickied the discussion .

I had an Echidna crawl down my driveway recently.

I actually found a stick and poked it gently a few times just to see what it would do.

It decided to freeze and stick its head inwards for protection (spikes on the face was a bit much i guess) and about a minute later it continued on it's journey.

I noticed that it had not realised i was less than a meter away from it the whole time. Might not have good eyesight but for sure a good sense of smell.

I imagine to the indigenous people, these things must have been a great source of spear heads.

Anyways, great job on the latest flarum release!

should we wait for extensions tests? maybe some of them are incompatible with new version?

masihdindar most should be fine honestly 😉 So do try the upgrade and if you encounter issues with extensions, respectfully report them to the maintainer. That would be a huge help to them.

Thanks, just updated, all went well, all seems fine 👍🏻 Really appreciate your continuing efforts 👏🏻

luceos Rel and target attributes on links can now be modified using extensions

Is there an extension for that already?

CyberGene Is there an extension for that already?

Yeah: luceos/flarum-ext-dofollow, it's like a proof of concept. It has hardcoded defaults though.

I want to remove rel="ugc noopener" on the external links too. Is this possible?

kishor yes. For now using a local extender would be easiest. If you create a support discussion I can give an example for that there when I'm fully awake.

Just updated to 1.4. Not an obviuos fact, but sense - Flarum is continuously becoming more convenient, reliable and smooth. Thanks, team!

Hello, it was nice sharing. It was said that there will be an update from the panel in the 1.4 version, I think this option did not come with this version, I would like to thank everyone who supported all the support.

eSozluk if it's not in this version, it will be in the next. We don't restrict ourselves to certain features per release as this could cause immense delays to such release in case the feature isn't finished.

                Update worked perfect.
No errors so far and the extensions seem to work as before. 👍

Update worked like a charm. Best open source forum software imo hands down.
