Out of curiosity, what happens if someone in a private discussion mentions someone who isn't in that discussion?

therealsujitk nothing. The whereVisibleTo will return false and prevent a notification. It's comparable to non public tags.

For some reason when I go to any user profile here on Flarum and type his name, nothing appears in the results.
By the way, would be super useful if his name was already there.

danielunited DMs have not yet been enabled for general users here on discuss that's why it won't give you a user list. It's known issue that's on github. The hope is to remove the "Start Discussion" button on that page for users who don't have permission to do so.

Why is there a need for a tag when communicating with another person?
Problem message: "tag count primary must be 1..."

And is there an option to set a default tag for private discussions (e.g. "message", "inbox", etc.)?

I know this is not a really messaging system but it should be fast and easy.
Adding a tag is - guess - in 9 of 10 cases - unnecessary to a private discussion (as there is a subject).

phloo The tag is needed because you are requiring all discussions to have at least 1 primary tag. Also, the extension's only setting is to set a default slug for all private conversations, which is what you want I guess.

Ex. I have a Conversation tag whose slug is "talk", so I entered "talk" in the default tag slug option in Byobu and it automatically tags all the private conversations with that.

edit: now I found the problem. Our list view is screwed and I didnt see the settings option:

Its the last extension on the bottom and somehow moves to the top. Maybe should report as bug

This error still occurs on our installation
We have the latest version 0.5 and set a secondary tag (message) which is connected to the discussion list.
But we are unable to create private discussions. Only after removing the tag in BYOBU we can create them but have to add a category manually.

nexromant Like it says, you need at least 1 primary tag.

You can bypass this by removing the primary tag count lower bound, but then you will do that for all discussions as well. You could also simply just add a primary tag for your discussion. Byobu also has a setting for automatically tagging your private discussions through a slug - I believe this is the most elegant solution.

What I do is:

remove the primary tag count lower bound for primary tags (0 to 3 instead of 1 to 3)
use a secondary tag called Conversation which I automatically tag all discussions with through its slug talk, so my conversations are still organized

Yalfoosh Thank you, it helped. Is it possible to remove private discussions from the General list of discussions? So that they are only visible in the user's profile?
