Dearie me! I've recently discovered Flarum and I must say—what an absolute joy!

I originally installed Discourse (because it's the hyped popular choice) for research collaboration a few days ago but it was slow, resource-heavy, cluttered, and the UI was terrible, so I started looking for alternatives and Flarum has won me over despite the let's say ‘recreational development’ and beta status. It's a shame you guys don't have commercial backing because you're obviously brilliant developers working on a product with a huge potential to pay for itself. So many great ideas and improvements over Discourse and NodeBB while keeping it all lightweight and swift.

Many thanks for your work, contribution to open source, and best of luck in the future! I'm looking forward to the future of this project!

hermitonroad I don't want to use composer

You mean you don't want to use the command line / composer client ? Have a look at the Pockethold installer and Bazaar, these are third-party tools you can use right now.

Saying you don't want to use Composer (the technology) would be pretty much the same as saying you don't want to use PHP, as it's one of the core technologies used by Flarum ?

There might come a time when the local composer client isn't required anymore and is replaced by a pre-packaged solution or a cloud composer client but that's likely not before stable ?

What happen with 8 release version? ?
Some good extensions out there was write it for this version I don't understand the why!

Kryonoglou We would like our members to understand that there's a lot of effort being focused on beta 8 right now. Please be patient and it will come really really soon!

I still not understand why some of the plugins work's with beta 8 and now with the latest stable version.

Kryonoglou As most of of the changes in beta 8 will require rewriting parts of existing extensions, developers have started to work on extensions for beta 8 and update existing ones instead of going through the trouble of having to rewrite them a month or two later.

I'd like to migrate my forum from Drupal to flarum. Would you suggest waiting for beta 8 before doing that?

SnakePromise if you stick to core extensions or extensions by active developers there won't be any issue upgrading to beta 8.

luceos Thanks, I'll start cautiously testing the migration with the current beta.

SnakePromise I would suggest holding up on it until beta.8 is released. It is ever so close now and may save you migrating to beta.7 only to upgrade to beta.8 soon after.

            Otherwise don't mind me. I just don't like double-handling in general. ?

Prosperous Yes, the release looks close now (judging by the milesones in github) but the last 9% can take months and month I guess, since beta7 was released more than a year ago AFAIK.

Digital You mean we're not supposed to run this on production sites ? Loving Flarum so much that I moved all my communities over.
