Why Flarum should migrate from Mithril.JS

Flarum is a non-commercial open source project, which means that its position in the market is largely dependent on the developer community that participates in its development. Accordingly, the larger the community, the better for Flarum. Mithril.JS significantly reduces the circle of developers who can join the development of Flarum. For example: MithrilJS has 13.7k stars on Github, while Vue and React have over 200k stars. The reason for this is code maintain complexity on Mithril.JS.

Why is development on Mithril.JS repulsive?

One phrase: code reading & writing speed. Mithril loses a lot in these parameters to other frameworks. Let's see this clearly using the button component implementation example on Mithril.JS and Vue 3:

Vue code is shorter, has a clear structure: logic is separated from markup, has excellent code organization in the logic section.
At the same time, the Mithril.JS component imports junk utilities that are used in most components, mixes markup with logic, does not have a clear structure and has long meaningless constructions like onclick={this.onClick.bind(this)} instead of @click="onClick".

The code implementation on Vue also allows you to work with a specific section of the code in logic section, hiding unnecessary lines using code folding.

Conclusion

Mithril.JS code is difficult to maintain, which reduces the number of developers that could be involved in Flarum project. This fact significantly slows down the further development of Flarum: at the start of new projects, preference will be given to alternative proposals, because it is easier for them to find employees who can support the site. And migrating to Flarum will be terribly expensive, because the forums will want to keep their functionality, and it will be extremely difficult to find a developer for this.

Flarum loses out more on the development and support complexity than it does on the extensibility that Mithril.JS provides, this greatly limits it's prospects. So I want to start a discussion about finding a replacement for Mithril.JS.
